Angel Award
During the summer of 2005, Revv52 lost one of its young members. Shawna Demmers and her friend were hiking near Canmore, enjoying the wonders of our great mountains and looking forward to their future together, when they slipped and fell. The tragedy showed all of us how precious our lives are, and how lucky we were to know Shawna as a member of our group.
Shawna's parents have graciously donated her memorial proceeds to Revv52. In tribute to Shawna, and remembering that her family and close friends called her Angel, Revv52 is pleased to announce that this significant contribution will be the basis for the Shawna Rae Demmers Angel Award.
Shawna celebrated her life every day through her gift as a great daughter, sister and friend; her witty (and oftentimes mischievous) sense of humor; her work as a student; and her ongoing passion for music and singing. The award that now bears her name will be dedicated to her memory, and will recognize individuals who display a similar love of life and passion for music.
Revv52 will present the Shawna Rae Demmers Angel Award annually. The award will include a cash gift of $500.00 plus the opportunity to audition for membership in the choir.
Applications will be received each year by June 30th. Although enrolment in a post-secondary institution is not a requirement of the award, applications should clearly state the type of education or training for which the funding will be used. The selection committee made up of representatives from the Demmers family and the choir will select the award recipient based on information provided on the application form.
The recipient of the award will be the individual who, as determined by the selection committee, most closely represents Shawna's love of music, dedication to her family, friends and community, and personal work ethic.
