MEMPHIS!!  The crossroads of musical styles of gospel, blues, soul, country and R&B.

Our next concert takes a first-hand look at what makes this great American city remarkable and musically vibrant.  Revv52 will perform the music recorded by the Million Dollar Quartet (Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins) in the famed Sun Studios in Memphis.  On the other side of town in Memphis, there was the music of Stax Studios where Gospel and Soul music found their home.  Both Gospel and Soul follow the same musical groove.  Soul sings to a “lover”, Gospel to “God” through the church.  When Al Green sang Soul in “Let’s Stay Together” he reached out to his lover.  When the Staple Singers belted out “I’ll Take You There” they sang to their Gospel community about the hope of things to come.

These are the styles that will be our focus in the January 2012 shows at the beautiful, 750-seat capacity Grace Presbyterian Church!!

Memphis is the crossroads of multiple musical styles – and the 60 voice REVV52 ensemble will perform call-and-response with our rockin’ band of six players: bass, drums, trumpet, sax, B3 keyboard, and guitar.
